For the Pope on the Day and Anniversary of His Creation and Enthronement as Pope

From the Intoit and Collect of the Votive Mass : Missale Romanum: Editio II Iuxta Editionem VI Post Typicam Vaticanam, 1956

In Die Creationis et Coronationis Papae, et in eorum dierum anniversario

Introitus Eccl. 45, 30.

Statuit ei Dominus testamentum pacis, et principem fecit eum: ut sit illi sacerdotii dignitas in aeternum (T.P. Alleluia, alleluia). Ps. 131,1 Memento, Domine, David: et omnis mansuetudinis eius. V. Gloria Patri. Statuit.

Oratio

Deus, omnium fidelium pastor et rector, famultum tuum N. quem pastorem Eccelsiae tuae praeesse voluisti, propitius respice: da ei, quaesumus, verbo et exemplo, quibus praeest, proficere; ut ad vitam, una cum grege sibi credito, perveniat sempiternam. Per Dominum.

An unofficial English translation:

Introit: Ecclesiasticus 45:30

The Lord has established for him a testiment of peace, and made him a prince: that the dignity of a priest may be his forever. (Paschal Time: Alleluia, alleluia). Psalm 131:1 Remember, Lord, David: and all his meekness. V. Glory be to the Father. The Lord has established.

Let us pray:

O God, the Shepherd and Ruler of all the faithful, propitiously look upon Thy household servant, N., whom Thou has willed to place at the head of Thy Church as Her shepherd: grant to him, we beseech Thee, to make progress in word and example, for the sake of those whom He leads; so that he may arrive at sempiternal life, one with the flock entrusted to him. Through Christ Our Lord.

Let us pray for Our Beloved Pope, Benedict XVI

This blog is for everyone who would like to offer the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, the merit of some spiritual act, or to share with us all, the text of some prayer for the Pope, whether approved, or written in one's own words.

This blog is moderated, but anonymous posters can leave comments.

However, no comments will be posted or shown. Only those commens which contain prayers or spiritual bouquets will be published by the editor of the site: these shall be signed with the initials of the poster, or with "anonymous" if that be the case.

Let us pray for Our Holy Father: as sucessor of St. Peter and most of all, as Vicar of Jesus Christ, his duties and the burdens of His high office are beyond our experience and comprehension. Great indeed is his need for our prayers and sacrifices, our communions, our rosaries, our mortifications, our penances, our alms and good example, and most of all, in all things legitimate, our obedience to His governance.

I cordially invite all who visit here, to join the rest of us in prayer for the Roman Pontiff, who is, in the words of St. John Bosco, "our sweet christ on earth".

As editor, I will start by offering the Pope a share in all my good works and prayers, at every moment of every day, for the rest of my life.
